Crushing in the Kitchen with Cyndy: Lavender

Lavender, the last, but definitely not the least for the February National Heart Month series!

I have talked a lot about lavender throughout my blogging this year, and many of you know that, but for those of you that don’t, please refer to the past blogs links at the end of this blog.

Lavender, if you could only have one essential oil in your house, for what reason I do not know, lol, but, if you could only choose one, this would be an excellent choice. It has been around since the beginning of time and has been known as one of the most important oils in the healing and spiritual worlds. It’s one of the most powerful of the flowers, so it’s no surprise that it is known to support the complete well-being of the heart!  Lavender not only helps support the health of the heart, it is also known to help with matters of the heart in love, and it’s one of the most wonderful in supporting grief. Lavender is not only good for the heart, but it is good for all of our body parts and here’s some of the other reasons why you want to keep some in your holistic health cabinet:

  • Promotes the production of collagen

  • Boosts cell production

  • Heals wounds and burns (fabulously with no scars if you’re quick)

  • Makes for good acne and cold sore treatment

  • Helps prevent scarring

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • Treatment for alopecia

  • Reduces anxiety, stress and symptoms of depression

  • Antibacterial

  • Helps relieve pains from menstruation and menopause

  • Insect repellent

  • And a fun, pretty addition to a spring or summer drink (with out without alcohol)

I can’t say it enough, it is hard to choose just one essential oil, but if I could only have one to keep on hand, lavender is the clear choice for me. I just can’t beat it's versatility! It can even be used in cleaning….did I mention that?? I don’t think I did, so add that to my list!

Did you know that lavender has a relative, lavandin? Not only do they have many of these same benefits, they both have a very similar scent as well, but you will find lavandin to be a bit more powerful. Although it has many of its own unique benefits, lavandin does make for a great and less expensive alternative to lavender.

Thank you everyone for joining me for national heart month. You can find my new oil Love Your Heart 💜 that features all of these flowers and essential oils along with raspberry to round it off and give it that extra beautiful scent and Hawthorn berry, to make it extra healthy for the heart! Happy Saturday, everyone! I wanted to provide an update on lavender. A few months ago I had burnt my arm grabbing a pan out of the oven and I used lavender to heal that burn and it did a beautiful job. Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures and share how beautifully it healed. Lucky for all of you I did it again the other day while I was cooking with grease and some actually splatter on my arm. This time I was a bit worried, the lavender wouldn’t work because it started to swell instantly. I went and grabbed my lavender and the carrier oil anyway placed about a quarter size of the carrier oil into my hand and a couple…
