Crushing in the Kitchen with Cyndy: Jasmine

Ooooo la-la, Jasmine!! The flower of more than just love, jasmine is a well known and wonderful aphrodisiac!! Maybe I should’ve posted this one before Valentine’s Day for all of you lovers out there, but, you know now!  In addition to stimulating your sexual desires, jasmine also works as an antidepressant and helps to relieve stress. This will help keep you happy and maybe that will help put you in the mood more frequently.

Good for the heart, jasmine also continues in my February series for National Heart Month. Jasmine helps to improve the health of the heart by helping lower the fats and cholesterol in the body.  It also aids in weight loss, as it is known to increase metabolism and lower blood sugars, making it a great option for diabetics, as well.

Another multi-functional flower, Jasmine also works as an antiseptic, immunity booster, pain and arthritis reliever, wound and oral care, and, it even helps in the fight against cancer.

If you're a researcher like me, there is an interesting study conducted on rats (link below) that has shown the positive results jasmine has on the gut-brain connection (which I discuss in a previous blog) as it relates to depression. This is huge and not at all surprising to me, but for those that need the scientific proof, this study can help transcend the world of holistic health and supports the fact that we were provided everything we need on this earth to not only just survive, but to heal ourselves! Go get yourself some jasmine today!
