Be in the Moment: Benefits of Mindful Meditation

Updated: Oct 23, 2023

Meditation is an ancient tradition that is self-practiced method of being in the "now" and not "doing" or thinking of anything else, just the moment at hand. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong, it can actually be a lot harder or challenging that it sounds. Many of us are so busy or overwhelmed in our days, it's a challenge just to find the time to have a few minutes of down time to yourself. However, when you look at the benefits that just a few minutes a day could provide you, I'd say the time is now!

Did you know that meditation can help with physical conditions such as chronic pain, psoriasis, heart disease, asthma and relieve the symptoms of both pregnancy and childbirth? That is only the tip of the iceberg!

Anxiety, depression, and stress, some of the main culprits of starting disease, are all known to show significant improvements when regularly practicing mindful-based meditation. Many studies are even emerging to prove that mindfulness can reverse serious conditions, such as terminal cancers, HIV, and other diseases that have been labeled "terminal" or "incurable". Not buying it? Check out the data from the Spontaneous Remission Bibliography Project (Wahbeh, Helané, ND, MCR), a book and a collection of data from over 3,500 studies proving the ultimate gift of "mind over matter" healing. Re-thinking making some time for meditation in your life? Not sure where to begin? No worries, I can help! Email me, call me, or comment below for your specific needs. Look for future posts for some quick little meditations.

PSSST...here's a lil tip...think out of the box for little ways that you could start fitting meditation in, like cleaning the house or even in the shower. Yes, that is doing something, but only concentrate on what chore you are doing or what body part you are washing, nothing else, BE IN THAT MOMENT! Another favorite idea of mine, make it part of family time! It's a great way to get everyone relaxed and calm for movie night, plus, you're empowering your family at the same time! Bonus!!

If you fall off track during your meditation and your mind starts to wander, just simply start over. When you first begin your practice, it might be best to start with maybe 2 -4 minutes at a time and work your way to longer as you become more comfortable. Most of all, be patient and gracious with yourself! Oh, and never meditate at a time when your full attention is needed, please always use caution and put safety first!

Love and magic to you all,
